A service closure in the gaming industry is no longer a strange thing to hear. Like what Ubisoft did recently, they stated that some of their “old” games will soon be shutting down so that various game features will not work as they should.
Announced via his official Twitter account, the developer said that the closure of the service will take effect from September 1, 2022. Some names such as Anno 2070, Assassin’s Creed 2, Far Cry 3 and Ghost Recon Future Soldier are a small part of the games that Ubisoft will close its game service.
We will be shutting down online services for some of our older games starting September 1, 2022. You can check the list of games, platforms and more here. DLC content for some old games is no longer available as a result of Ubisoft closing its game services
Not only closing the multiplayer service, some games that are closed will also lose their DLC content. So, gamers with a collection of DLC from several game names that will be closed later will also lose access to that content.
In addition, the Virtual Reality Space Junkies game is the youngest game to be closed, where the game was just released 3 years ago. Space Junkies is also a game that requires an internet connection so that by closing the service, the game will definitely no longer be able to be played in the future.
Here are some of the names of their games that will close their game services on September 1st:
Assassin’s Creed 2
Assassin’s Creed 3
Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood
Assassin’s Creed Liberation
Assassin’s Creed Revelations
San Francisco Driver
Far Cry 3
Ghost Recon Future Soldier
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
Silent Hunter 5
Splinter Cell: Blacklist
Just for additional information, the remastered version of the games above will not be affected so gamers can still play the remastered version without any problems.
