Commander Pelia is a force to be reckoned with. When Spock (Ethan Peck) and the rest of the bridge crew create a fake coolant leak in the warp core to get everyone to evacuate the Enterprise so they can steal it, Pelia almost immediately knows what that is happening. In a loud accent that sounds vaguely Eastern European, she tells Spock that she’s figured out their plan and is all for it, helping them rob the ship and warning them, “If you’re going to steal the ship, do it right.” Her accent seems almost identical to the one she used as Simka in “Taxi”, and there are some common personality traits as well. Pelia has a mischievous feeling about him, asking Spock if he has a good reason to rob the ship with a smile and a twinkle in his eye, and Simka is equally mischievous, always ready to accompany her husband Latka (Andy Kaufman) antics.

Not only that, but there are several instances on “Taxi” where it appears Simka has psychic abilities or is a supernatural observer. In one episode, she plays matchmaker with all of her friends and manages to find the perfect partner for each of them, and in another, she knows Latka has been unfaithful the moment she sets eyes on him. She also speaks several languages, and we discover in the first that Pelia speaks Klingon. The two share a lot of similarities (and a face and a voice), and it’s possible they’re actually the same person!
