The New Black Panther In Wakanda Forever

The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer ends with a tease of T’Challa’s successor, but the identity of the character in the suit is kept a mystery. The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer ends with a tease of someone taking up the mantle, but who is the new Black Panther? After the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman in 2020, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is aiming to honor and continue the legacy of both the actor and the character he so wonderfully brought to life, T’Challa aka Black Panther. Marvel Studios has confirmed that T’Challa will never be recast; however, the title of Black Panther is one that can be passed down and taken on by a new character – something already established in the MCU – and that will seemingly be happening in Phase 4, as seen in the first Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer.

The Black Panther 2 trailer is an emotional tease of what’s to expect, showing that the loss of Boseman will very much be felt onscreen and in-universe as Wakanda mourns T’Challa. At the same time, the nation also has to deal with an emerging new threat in the form of Namor, with the trailer setting up a war between Wakanda and Atlantis, as had been previously speculated. With this powerful new enemy, Wakanda will need its Black Panther, which the trailer sets up.

A new Black Panther is teased at the very end of the Wakanda Forever trailer, though the identity is kept a mystery, with only part of the suit and a quick flash of claws on display, both seen from behind. There’s no clear suggestion from the brief shot, but it does look like a female character in the suit, which leaves only a couple of possibilities, most likely either Shuri or Nakia. It has long been expected that Shuri will be the new Black Panther in Wakanda Forever, and the trailer certainly supports that notion. With the Black Panther 2 trailer about legacy and family, then it would make a lot of sense for her to take up the mantle at that point in time with her country so in need.

Avengers 5 & 6: Kang Dynasty & Secret Wars Both Releasing 2025 Marvel Studios officially announces Avengers 5 and 6 are happening – they’re titled The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars and both will release in 2025. Marvel Studios officially announces Avengers 5 and Avengers 6 are happening. Since Avengers: Endgame brought Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Widow’s stories to a close, the future of the Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a huge question looming over Phase 4. Marvel has always included an Avengers movie in each of its Phases, and they often serve as the culminating event of the overall story taking place. In the lead-up to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever ending Phase 4, though, Marvel Studios has remained quiet on when the next Avengers film would come.

The lack of an announcement for Avengers 5 in the MCU Phase 4 slate has been juxtaposed by elevating major heroes like Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), as well as introducing new heroes like Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) and Moon Knight (Oscar Isaac). There has also been a huge question about what villain will be big enough to unite these heroes. Just as the Infinity Saga had Thanos, audiences have been trying to figure out who the next big bad of the MCU is. The introduction of Kang (Jonathan Majors) before Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and exploration of the multiverse created a great expectation that both would be important to what comes next.

Now during its major Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Marvel Studios has officially announced that both Avengers 5 and Avengers 6 are happening. They will be titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Both of the new movies are part of Marvel’s Phase 6 slate and will be released the same year. Avengers 5, also known as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, releases on May 2, 2025, while Avengers 6, now titled Avengers: Secret Wars, releases on November 7, 2025.
