WB and DC hosted a panel at the SDCC on Saturday to promote the Shazam! sequel. During the event, the official trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods was released, previewing the sinister plans of the new villains (Helen Mirren’s Hespera and Lucy Liu’s Kalypso). The video also teased the endearing familial bonds among the Shazam family siblings, emphasizing the relationships and individual journeys of the characters. Interestingly, some callbacks to the Justice League superheroes like Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and Ben Affleck’s Batman strengthened the Shazam! film series’ connectivity to the larger DCEU. Shazam!: Fury of the Gods jumps forward a few years, with Billy Batson considering himself the leader of an established team of heroes in the DCEU.
