While “John Wick: Chapter 4” marks the end, for now, of the major numbered entries in the franchise, the world of “John Wick” continues to expand.
We have the movie “Ballerina” starring Ana de Armas next June, and a 1970s prequel event series called “The Continental” which will launch in September and will focus on the origins of Winston from Ian McShane and Charon from Lance Reddick.
That’s not all either, it seems. Franchise director Chad Stahelski recently confirmed on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast (via Screen Rant) that talks are underway to see Halle Berry reprise her role as Sofia in “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.”
Stahelski also indicates that several spin-offs seem to be in the works beyond what has been announced:
“Yeah. We’ve actually been in talks a couple of times to try to… I hate the term spin-off. But they’re trying to do other satellite projects outside of the Wick franchise. Hope they’re good . »
In the film, Sofia is a former assassin and close friend of John Wick. She also owns two Belgian Malinois dogs which are an integral part of her lethal arsenal and were part of her fight scenes in the third film.
This isn’t the first time there’s been talk of a Berry-led spinoff of a major action franchise. Two decades ago, there were plans to give her the Bond girl character of Jinx in “Die Another Day,” a potential spin-off film. It never happened.
Stahelski, meanwhile, is busy with several prospects to choose from for his next feature – the most likely being the film adaptation of the PlayStation-exclusive samurai game “Ghost of Tsushima.”
“John Wick: Chapter 4” is available to buy digitally now and gets its physical home press release on June 13.
