“I’ve had a passion for movies since I was five years old and I’ve always been drawn to stories that made sense and touched me as a viewer,” says Ronnie S. Riskalla, screenwriter and director of Streets of Colour. “Even though I got lost in Hollywood fantasy movies, I always found solace in real-world stories. The reason I wanted to tell this specific story is because it has the potential to be a engaging and truthful depiction of the people in our society. It will offer a captivating look into a world that is familiar to many, but also the underworld that many people would never know – the world of Western Sydney.
If this second teaser for the film is anything to say, colored streets seeks to merge the genre conventions of mainstream urban thriller with a Western Sydney story. Up-and-coming local star Rahel Romahn plays a conflicted young man who must navigate difficult terrain that includes violence and drugs on his way to redemption.
A world premiere has also been announced for the film, which will take place at the glorious Hayden Orpheum cinema on June 26. tix can be found here.
