Superman: Legacy officially has its main cast in David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan

DC Studios officially has its Superman and Lois Lane.

After a long search and rumors circulating faster than a speed bullet, we have learned that David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan will star in DC Studios’ first film under James Gunn and Peter Safran, “Superman: Legacy.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Corenswet and Brosnahan were two of six actors wanted for the lead roles. They say others who got screen tested were Nicholas Hoult, Tom Brittney for Clark Kent Superman, and Emma Mackey and Phoebe Dynevor for the iconic Lois Lane.

Accepting these roles is a huge undertaking. They come with enormous pressure from an overly critical public that lately is quicker to condemn a project as a failure than to see it through. As well as the pressure of a studio which seems to hit hard with the public with its last three films including “Black Adam”, “Shazam! Fury of the Gods”, and more recently “The Flash”.

“Superman: Legacy” will kick off the promised new DC Universe that will span films, television, animation, and video games. It’s currently slated for a July 11, 2025 release date. With our stars now in place, we’re now waiting to see who fills other roles like Lex Luthor or the Authority members.

With so many superhero movies, it’s hard to believe that only three actors have played the role of Clark Kent aka Superman on the big screen. Names include Christopher Reeves, Brandon Routh and Henry Cavill (no, Nicolas Cage doesn’t count). Compare that to the number of actors who have played the Dark Knight over the years.

But before we get to the start of the new DC Universe, there are two movies left from the previous regime. The next stop in August will be “Blue Beetle”. Whose main character would have a future in Gunn’s plans. Then ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’, which given the reception of ‘The Flash’ had only been holding its breath for a winter hit for the ‘Aquaman’ sequel, seeing what people think of Amber Heard .
