“Star Wars: Ahsoka” Teases New Dark Threat

The official Star Wars site has revealed the name Marrok as the identity of the mysterious Inquisitor-style character glimpsed in the recent “Star Wars: Ahsoka” TV spots.

Set within the same timeline as “The Mandalorian,” the series revolves around Ahsoka’s quest across the galaxy as she investigates an emerging threat following the fall of the Empire.

Talk of the show’s villains in the lead-up to the release has been focused heavily on the first live-action appearance of Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), along with both Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati and Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll.

However, the recent spots have shown this fourth villain with a double-bladed lightsaber who does battle with Ahsoka at one point. Describing Marrok, the site says:

“Once an Inquisitor hunting Jedi for the Empire, the mysterious Marrok now works as a mercenary hired by Morgan Elsbeth to carry out dark deeds. Fully encased in battered battle armor, the warrior still carries a red double-bladed saber with a circular hilt.”

Elsbeth, of course, was arrested by Ahsoka in her second season episode of “The Mandalorian,” but the character is slated to return in the new series, which is written and executive produced by Dave Filoni.

“Star Wars: Ahsoka” will debut on Disney+ on August 23rd.
