Spiderman 4 is still in development, as are a Miles Morales live-action movie and an animated Spider-Woman. That’s what Variety reports following discussions with various Sony producers during the premiere of Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse. Of course we all knew there would be a Spiderman 4 in collaboration with Marvel Studios. However, the other two projects mentioned are new information.
As reported by the trade:
Producer Amy Pascal says a Spider-Woman movie and a Miles Morales live-action movie are in the works. “You will see all of this,” she told me on Tuesday at the “Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Versepremiere in Los Angeles. “It happens.”
Producer Avi Arad announced that moviegoers will see a “Spider-Woman” movie “sooner than expected. I can’t tell you yet, but it’s coming,” he said.
As for Spider-Man’s next MCU entry?
“Are we going to make another movie? Of course we are,” Pascal said. “We are in the process, but the writers are on strike, no one is working during the strike. We are all supporters and whenever they get together we will start.
As for Sony boss Tom Rothman? Well, let’s say his response was a little less of a commitment.
He laughed, “If I told you, I would have to kill you.”

My personal interest is squarely centered on Spiderman 4. However, it looks like Sony’s Spider-Man universe is also expanding. Frankly, the idea of Sony making its own Miles Morales live-action movies makes a lot of sense. Sony has had a problem with Spider-Man in its SSMU for some time. In other words, so far there is none. While animation-wise, Sony has every possible version of Spider-Man crammed into their spider worms trilogy. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will be this trilogy capper and it will be released next summer.
If We Follow Marvel Comics, Spider-Woman Was Never Really nothing to do with Spider-Man. However, maybe a Sony Spider-Woman movie would feature Spider-Gwen rather than Jessica Drew? Frankly, I have no idea, and until we have more details, I guess there are a number of possibilities.
