Christopher Nolan’s dark historical drama “Oppenheimer” is set to extend its IMAX run by a week.

The film had originally locked down a three-week run from its July 21st debut – taking in that weekend, this weekend and next. Now its going for one more with the film to hold onto IMAX screens through until at least Sunday, August 13th.

The continuation like comes down due to the pushing back of the wide release of the “Gran Turismo” film which was set for August 11th but will now only have select previews on that date ahead of its wide release on August 25th.

The extension comes as the film had a stunning second weekend at the box-office – with a very strong $46.6 million domestic and $72 million overseas haul. It’s now the first R-rated film to gross more than $10 million every day in its opening week.

Both it and “Barbie” had two of the best sophomore session holds in box office history according to Comscore analyst Paul Dergarabedian.

“Oppenheimer” has earned $174 million at the domestic box office and $400 million at the worldwide box office by today – just ten days in, it has outgrossed the entire runs of Nolan’s “Tenet” at $365 million and “Batman Begins” at $373 million.
