There have been many headlines generated by the upcoming San Diego Comic Con. While this is not a new occurrence, this year the buzz has been regarding who and what you will not expect to see at the biggest pop culture convention of the year. Rather than the usual talk about what big announcements might be coming from Marvel, Disney, HBO or various other studios, news has focused on these studios and many other big content generators skipping the convention completely. Not only will they not have a Hall H panel, there will be no smaller panel, show floor presence or press opportunities with cast and crew.

Amidst this upheaval, and the subsequent discussions about what this might portend for the future of this mega convention, comes a welcome announcement that is the exact opposite of the recent exodus. DC Comics is returning to the show floor with a dedicated booth from the long-time publisher. The last time DC had a solo booth was in 2018 having shared a presence with WB for the 2019 show before the two year Covid hiatus. Last year DC had a presence with numerous panels teasing upcoming projects but had no spot on the show floor.

While many DC fans would welcome any DC presence even the shared WB booth, the former DC booth in the center of the comic publisher area was often the best place to have a chance to bump into various creators and was often the center of the comic book presence on the show floor. The move to WB booth in the far back corner, the lay out of that booth and the crowded nature of that area of the floor meant that DC impact on the show floor felt very diminished in 2019. DC’s return to a dedicated booth this year could bring back some of the feel their presence had in prior years, but with them occupying the back corner away from other comic publishers it may not be a complete return to the past.

With so many announcements focusing on what won’t be at SDCC though, this is a welcome return as DC will offer many exclusives, autograph opportunities and in booth events. You can read the full DC Press release, including Panel Schedule, below.
