Great horror isn’t too hard to come by these days, especially with the genre that’s achieved such a vein of form over the last year or so, but gems like Small Bone Pavilion are somehow still allowed to fall through the cracks.
Director Matthias Hoene’s chilling offering may be one of the newest additions to the catalog of nightmarish stories to be set on windswept nights, but it hasn’t garnered much attention outside ardent gorehounds who make a point of tracking down as much terrifying content as possible.
And yet, it certainly deserves to be seen by the widest possible audience, and not just because Small Bone Pavilion can currently be found with a perfect score of 100% Rotten Tomatoes. With a stellar central vanity that refreshes the familiar and an atmosphere so thick you’d need a Jason Voorhees-sized knife to cut it, the isolated and eerie adventure is worth checking out ASAP.
To that end, streaming subscribers did just that, with FlixPatrol naming Little Bone Lodge as one of the most-watched features on Amazon’s global chart this weekend. The basic setup finds a pair of law-breaking siblings on the run, where they’ve decided to take shelter from a storm on a rural farmhouse nestled in the Scottish Highlands.
However, once inside, it doesn’t take long for the duo to discover that dark secrets and disturbing events have caused the property to remain so remote for a reason.
