‘Weird Al’ Yankovic Posted Hilarious Response To AI Music’s Grammys Eligibility

In the past, the Grammys have been pushed back for not keeping up with growing musical genres. The coveted annual awards ceremony sought to be more inclusive, announcing new categories, adjustments and expanding eligibility requirements. But they made a decision that technically makes them less inclusive: AI-only generated music is excluded from the nomination. This prompted a joke from the one and only “Weird Al” Yankovic.

Yankovic posted a USA Today headline that read “Grammys Exclude AI From Winning Awards: Only ‘Human Creators’ Are Eligible.” The musician captioned it with playful puns, writing, “Ugh. I keep telling them… I AM human!!!

Fans chimed in with the post with their own jokes.

One person replied, “Listen to me, AI Yankovic, and you sing with Siri.”

“Well, considering you. Some people wondered if you were an alien in disguise,” another added.

In an attempt to make the musician feel better, one person made sure that the ‘Al’ referred to in the story was him, and rather someone else, writing, ” Don’t worry. Obviously they were talking about Al Molinaro from “Happy Days”.

Ironically, “Weird Al” Yankovic has a total of five Grammy wins with a total of 16 nominations overall.
