Tia Mowry is acknowledging her truth as she sheds light on the reasons that led her to divorce Cory Hardrict.
As you may recall, the couple, who married in 2008 and gave birth to two children they share, Cree, 11, and Cairo, 5, shocked the world last October after which Mowry announced on her Instagram that the couple would be going their separate ways.
As of April 24, 2023, the couple legally finalized their divorce after 14 years of marriage and entered into a binding agreement regarding the equal care of their children.

The mother-of-two opened up about her healing journey to Hello Beautiful after agreeing to appear in a cover story for the magazine. Following her split from the “All American: Homecoming” actor, Mowry revealed that “separating from her husband was a long time coming.”
She began: “I like being a woman. But I understand that tradition can be a blessing and a curse. What I mean by that is that tradition does not guarantee change, but change is constant.
Regarding the subject of the change, she explained that it happened when she was struck by the news of the death of her grandmother, who died in January 2019. The actress of “Sister, Sister” who did not anticipate not this change said,
“I was very, very close to my grandmother. She has lived so long. Then, I had never been to the funeral of a member of my family. It’s different. I had to see someone I had loved who I thought would never go, even though she was older. I kept thinking, ‘She’s not going. She will be here forever.
Unfortunately for the ‘Twitches’ actress, life dealt her a terrible blow two months earlier, as she began to mourn the death of another close family member – ‘Alaina Housley’, her niece. twin sister, who was murdered in a bar in Thousand Oaks, California. shooting that left 12 dead.
The painful loss she experienced after saying goodbye to two important people in her life set her on a path of peace with herself. In her words, “It woke me up. I was like, ‘Tia, are you happy?’ And I said, I really need to find my peace and my happiness. That’s when I went to therapy.
She added: “I just started to flourish and evolve and learn and grow. It was like the aha moment. The pivotal moment where I was, you know what? It’s time to really start to live your truth.
When the interviewer asked her if “it was around the time she and Cory decided they were better apart than together,” she replied, “Oh, that was years before that actually. It was maybe five years before I decided to make my decision.
Mowry clarified: “It took me this long to process everything and realize that everything is fine. Change is constant. It’s okay if something is out of alignment or no longer serving you, it’s okay to let go.The doting mum also revealed that her two children served as an inspiration to her, making her opt for the difficult decision to file for divorce.
She remarked, “Part of my decision was for them as well. For them seeing their mother walk in the truth. I feel like it’s a big lesson for them because it wasn’t an easy decision. It was one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make in my entire life. But if they see that mom can do it, that mom, no matter what people say, no matter, even if there’s some kind of doubt, whatever it is, mom gets through it.
The former Disney star admitted she wanted her children to proudly say she was living her truth, describing her as “the best gift I can give them.” Mowry also hopes that through her example, they won’t be afraid to live their lives just for themselves.
“I want them not to live the life that I want them to live, not to live the life that everyone else wants them to live or what they think they should be or live. I want them to see that it’s okay to have a bad day. I want them to see that chasing your joy is okay. I want them to see that it’s okay to live your truth.

Although Mowry’s split from her ex was due to excruciating circumstances, the mother-of-two seems to be doing well and thriving as a single woman!
In April, the 44-year-old took to her Instagram to express her excitement for her empowerment and growth following the resolution of her divorce from her former partner. She uploaded videos of herself spinning to the tune of “Family Affair Vai No Tira E Bota” by Dj Mimo Prod, dressed in several outfits at different intervals.
Adding a note to the playful clip, she wrote, “This is your weekly reminder to dance 💕.” She further wrote in the caption, “Celebrating me today and everyday for being powerful, kind, creative and all the things that make me, me!”
