Savannah Chrisley says the thought of marriage scares her more than children
In the latest episode of her podcast, “Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley,” the 25-year-old beauty opened up about her feelings and her fear of starting a family. Kicking off the touchy subject with guest Lindsay Ell, she admitted she doubted getting married.
Chrisley then highlighted the societal pressure to conform to traditional expectations of getting married and having children while living in the southern region of the United States. In his words:
“It’s so hard because in the south too, we live like [perspective of], ‘You should be married. You should have children. And I say the thought of marriage scares me more than children.
As the conversation progresses, the Belmont University alum described the disparity she feels between having children and getting married. In the end, she gives more reasons why she is afraid of the latter. Savanna said:
“I don’t know if it’s maybe – and it’s gonna sound so bad, but I think maybe because kids, you’re in control, you know?… So if I were to have a kid, it’s It’s my responsibility to take care of them, and I make sure they get from point A to point B. All of those things.
“But with marriage, it’s kind of like you give a part of yourself to someone, so they have the ability to hurt you. It’s a weird thing that I’m still trying to understand in my mind,” she added.
The ‘Chrisley Knows Best’ star has previously expressed feelings that she can’t live life to the fullest while her parents are serving their prison sentence. She told Emmy Medders, her brother Chase Chrisley’s fiancée, on Unlocked last December that she “can’t go on with life” on her mind. She says:
“Until I know they’ll be there, I can’t get married. I can’t have children. … [But I know] they will eventually be part of it one day.
However, despite the absence of her parents, the actress revealed that her father urges her to live life to the fullest, even though he is physically unavailable due to his prison sentence.

While her parents are incarcerated, the TV personality has taken on the role of guardian for her niece Chloe, 10, whom her parents adopted from older brother Kyle in 2016 and younger brother Grayson, 17.
