Ryan Gosling is hitting back at critics who are expressing concerns about his casting as Ken in the highly anticipated ‘Barbie’ movie, citing his “old age” as the main issue.

In a recent interview with QGthe 42-year-old star responded to the controversy by saying, “I would say, you know, if people don’t want to play with my Ken, there’s a lot of other Kens to play with.”

Gosling said he found the whole speech amusing, pointing out that Ken never received much attention prior to his casting in the film. “But suddenly it’s like, ‘No, we’ve been caring about Ken this whole time,'” Gosling remarked. “No, you didn’t. You never did. You never cared. Barbie never fucked Ken. That’s the point.”

The ‘La La Land’ star concluded the interview by addressing the critics directly, saying, “If you ever really care about Ken, you’ll know no one cares about Ken. So your hypocrisy is on display. That is why his story must be told.

Despite initial concerns raised by some fans of the toy brand over Gosling’s casting as Ken in the upcoming Greta Gerwig-directed film, Gosling himself has humorously embraced his role as a “representative” of the character.

In a light-hearted way, he jokingly remarked, “I care about this guy now. I am like his representative. Ken couldn’t show up to receive this award, so I’m here to accept it for him.

When the movie’s trailer was released on social media in April, a few fans expressed their reservations about Gosling’s age, citing wrinkles and a perceived lack of attractiveness.

Toy company Mattel launches doll-sized replicas

On Friday, toy company Mattel unveiled Margot Robbie and Gosling lookalike dolls, featuring their respective characters from the highly anticipated live-action Barbie movie. The collection includes life-size replicas of the 32-year-old actress and the 42-year-old actor.

In addition to Robbie and Gosling, the release will also feature dolls inspired by other key characters from the film, played by Simu Liu, America Ferrera and Issa Rae. The dolls will be dressed in costumes identical to those worn by the actors of the next film.

Mattel will notably release four toy-sized models that capture Robbie’s portrayal of Barbie, complete with her signature pink outfits.

Following the announcement, social media users began discussing Ken doll’s resemblance to Gosling. Some users expressed disappointment, feeling that the doll did not resemble the actor as much as they had hoped.

Mattel’s doll of Gosling’s Ken character from the Barbie movie featured several distinctive outfits, including the iconic denim-on-denim ensemble. The doll sported straight pants and an open sleeveless vest, revealing her chiseled abs.

In a nod to a memorable moment from the movie, the replica doll also featured the same monogrammed underwear as Gosling’s character. Another replica of Gosling’s Ken doll also came dressed in a vibrant beach outfit with pink and green stripes to mirror the one the actor wore in the film.

Another Ken doll from Gosling was dressed in a stylish button-up short-sleeved shirt and shorts paired with crisp white sneakers. He was also carrying a blue surfboard.
