Rebel Wilson dispelled the rumor that she was carb-free after her dramatic weight loss – and revealed how many calories she thinks people need.
“I learned that you really only need about 600 calories a day,” Wilson, 43, told the Daily mail on Thursday, June 15, while promoting her Fluid app at a Beverly Hills party sponsored by Casamigos Cristalino. “You don’t need 1,500 or 2,000.” She later clarified that consuming 600 calories is usually done as a detox and not a daily routine. While the Hustle star did not reveal if she adhered to the 600 calorie regiment, she told the outlet that she was not advocating for others to do so.
THE Perfect The actress – who has lost over 75 pounds since 2020 – explained that after signing up for a food program, her approach to diets changed.
“Everyone thinks you have to eat so much [and] your body needs it, but the truth is, your body doesn’t need a lot of calories,” she claimed, noting that it “may sound crazy” to some, but to her it’s all about to control portions.
Wilson added, “If you eat well and eat small portions, you’ll be fine.” (During its Thursday event, guests were greeted with a custom Casamigos Ice sled and welcome margaritas featuring the all-new Casamigos Cristalino. Despite her strict diet, the actress revealed, “I eat carbs.” She alleged that she just eats them “in small portions”, adding, “I eat pizza and I eat pasta, but I don’t eat a lot of it.”

Even with self-implemented restrictions, Wilson told the outlet that she indulges in ice cream as her “cheat food” from time to time.
“When I wasn’t watching my weight, I would sit down and sometimes eat a pint of Ben & Jerry’s. That’s just what I did. It was a habit,” she recalls. I’m much more careful. I’ll like have a third of a pint and eat it slowly. I won’t eat the whole pint at all – that’s in my past.
The Aussie star – who rose to fame for playing Fat Amy in the Perfect franchise — began her “healthy year” in early 2020. By November of that year, she had lost 60 pounds, but Wilson didn’t stop there.
After hitting her goal weight of 165 pounds, Wilson continued to maintain her healthier lifestyle, but stopped focusing on the scales.
“Rebel is no longer working with a trainer on a day-to-day basis to lose more weight after she has reached her goal, instead she is focused on maintaining the weight she has lost and feeling good about herself,” said said a source exclusively.
