Offset and Quavo acknowledged what should have been Takeoff’s 29th birthday with loving tributes

Offset and Quavo acknowledged what should have been Takeoff’s 29th birthday with loving tributes

Takeoff was taken way too early. The beloved Atlanta rapper was fatally shot in the early hours of November 1, 2022, losing his life at age 28. The first anniversary after someone’s death is always the starkest reminder of what’s been lost, and Takeoff should have — should have — celebrated its 29th birthday on Sunday, June 18.

Takeoff’s former Migos teammates Quavo and Offset didn’t let the day go unnoticed.

“Happy birthday @yrntakeoff can’t wait for days like this again!!! BEST thinks we’re riding all week Rocket GEEKD style,” Quavo captioned a throwback Instagram video alongside several rocket emojis. “u 29 nigga.”

Quavo added on Twitter: “Everyone wishes my nephew a happy birthday [birthday cake emoji, infinity sign emoji, rocket emoji]. I miss you so much!”

Offset also posted a nine-photo Instagram carousel with the caption “Happy Birthday Rocket Man [rocket emoji] the biggest to touch the microphone!! best spirit ever!! purest man i know your heart was golden bring me peace bra we celebrate your life cause you are still here i love you gang [four rocket emojis].”

Last month, Offset graced the cover of Variety and struggled to open up about mourning Takeoff.

“It’s hard for me to talk shit right now,” he told the publication in part. “I never talked about this kind of thing. Seriously. Talking about Take is hard, man. Talking about all that shit is hard. That’s why I don’t, to be honest. This shit hurts. Like, this is going to put me in a mood, and I don’t want to put myself in that mood. Some things I never tell anyone. He’s not here. This shit seems fake, bro. I spend my day thinking that’s wrong. And I don’t tell anyone.

Takeoff was murdered outside 810 Billiards & Bowling in Houston while attending a private event with Quavo. On December 1, 33-year-old Patrick Xavier Clark was arrested for allegedly shooting Takeoff. Clark was formally charged with murder after a Texas grand jury indicted him on May 25, as TMZ reported.
