Nikola Jokic made one thing clear after the Denver Nuggets won the first championship in franchise history earlier this week: He really didn’t want to stay for the team’s championship parade on Thursday. Jokic has repeatedly expressed that his strong preference is to just go home, and when he was told the parade wouldn’t take place until Thursday, he briefly became the most upset person in world history despite winning a championship, like, an hour earlier.
But celebrating a championship with teammates, coaches, and staff of varying levels of drunkenness changes things up a bit. Jokic approached the microphone and explained that he didn’t want to be there, and told the crowd that he had changed his mind.

“You know I said I don’t want to stay in the parade, but I want to stay in the parade, this is the best day of my fucking life,” Jokic said. “It’s amazing, you’ll all remember this for the rest of your life, and seeing you take to the streets – in fact, this one’s for you. We love you, Denver, this one’s for you.
It is unclear whether Jokic will be able to return to Serbia in time for watch your horses on sundaybut if he can’t, he seems to understand that this parade is worth it.
