A cloud hanging over Kesha’s life for nearly a decade was the libel lawsuit that producer Dr. Luke filed against her in 2014, after Kesha claimed he drugged and raped her in 2005. The lawsuit was to to finally stand trial in July, but before that, Kesha and Dr. Luke shared a joint statement announcing that they had settled the lawsuit out of court.
Following this, Kesha released a new statement thanking her fans.
Her Instagram post from yesterday (June 27) reads: “I am humbled and in awe of the support and love you all have given me. You have held and carried me through the past 9 years. I’m so full of light and excitement for the beautiful things to come, for the shows to play and the art to do to share with you all Animals, ‘I don’t need a lot but there’s one thing I can’t lose. All I need is you.'”
This follows the statement she made when the trial was recently announced: “Only God knows what happened that night. As I have always said, I cannot tell everything that happened. I can’t wait to close the door on this chapter of my life and start a new one. I wish nothing but peace to all parties concerned.
