The former reality TV star hoped the ever-evolving streaming and e-commerce site would be the perfect place for her life story based on her memoir. open book, published in 2020.
It was a bestseller, and Simpson was set to serve as executive producer, dipping her toes in the producer water, a first since her reality series. Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica is MTV. Speed cameras online shares that sources at Amazon believe Simpson isn’t equipped to produce a TV show because her only experience is on a reality show where being smart wasn’t the vibe.
“On some level, Jessica is a television pundit because of the success of Newlyweds 20 years ago,” an insider said. “But turning his book into a streaming drama series was a tall order.”

Suppose the show is based on her open book memoir, which touched on her marriage to Nick Lachey, which wasn’t as bubbly and playful as fans may have seen on TV. In the past, Simpson has said she felt trapped in this marriage.
The two evolved into a better relationship and are still married to these two people today. So it worked out for the best, but there’s no doubt that the blonde bombshell has some juicy stories to share.
Seeing that the deal with Amazon fell through, the singer-turned-beauty mogul shops around for her idea. Sources share that Jessica will “be fine” no matter what.
‘Open Book’ was supposed to be a comedy-drama
Amazon shared the connection line when they announced that they had opted for the book for a series.

The deal was signed in 2022 but has been on hiatus ever since. In the meantime, Simpson has released a follow-up book titled Movie Star: They Always Say They’re Single – A True Story.
