Babe Rainbow is here to answer the question, “What would it be like wearing refractive sunglasses in a field of wildflowers if the sensation was a song?” The psych-rock band’s dreamy sound is easy to glean from looking at the photos on their Instagram page, which includes sun-kissed movie photos, yellow-tinted sunglasses, straw sun hats, ’90s-inspired outfits 70 and of course many rainbows. But despite their soft aesthetic, the group is incredibly prolific.
Babe Rainbow – aptly described in press materials as “Australia’s good vibes factory” – has been busy in recent years. Between dropping albums on a near-annual basis (their last being 2022 The organic band), collaborating with Jaden and embarking on a tour of the United States, it’s clear that Aussie rockers have a lot on their plate. Although less than six months have passed since their previous full album, Babe Rainbow are back to drop yet another project, this time in the form of a four-track EP. Title Fresh as a head of lettucethe project (which debuts June 23) is a collection of sunny pieces to bring to the summer.
Before the release of Fresh as a head of lettuceBabe Rainbow sits down with Uproxx to talk Sade, sleep in an office building, and have a crush on Stanley Tucci in our latest Q&A.
