Gunna is slowly revealing her side of the YSL RICO lawsuit story, even though some people, like Lil Durk, don’t want to hear it.
On Wednesday, June 14, which happens to be her 30th birthday, Gunna teased “A Gift and a Curse” as her next release, including a pre-save link. Complex And HotNewHipHop reported that it will arrive this Friday, June 16, but it has not been officially announced by Gunna, 300 Entertainment or YSL. It’s also unclear whether “A Gift And A Curse” is a stand-alone or stand-alone project.
Gunna was released from prison in mid-December after “entering a negotiated plea, known as the Alford plea”, as reported by WSB-TV at the time. The outlet also reported that Gunna pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiring to violate the RICO Act. The move sparked an overwhelming backlash, with countless people condemning Gunna as a “whistleblower” of the other YSL defendants, including Young Thug.
Gunna’s first outing after prison was a feature on German rapper Uof361’s “Brodies” in January, and her first solo single, “Bread & Butter,” was released earlier this month.
In the latter, Gunna explicitly fired back at the accusations of snitching. It begins with an audio compilation of reactions to his plea deal and subsequent release. “Keep it real with niggas, never lie and always be honest / I love my bro so much, I’ll never change for them,” he raps in the song co-produced by Turbo, Omar Grand and Cam Griffin.
