Current estimates for Memorial Day weekend are slightly higher than previous forecasts for the four-day period, which estimated a total of about $110 million. Deadline also reports that the film’s estimated global opening weekend is around $163.8 million worldwide.

The new live-action feature is a remake of the classic 1989 Disney animated feature film directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, based on Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale. The new film is directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Rob Marshall (“Chicago”) – Halle Bailey stars as the “Little Mermaid,” Ariel.
