AuthorColleen Hoover finally talk about it strange age difference in the It ends with us movie adaptation.
Blake Lively’s age is off

Hoover was at Book Bonanza where she basically apologized to fans for her choice of casting her main female and male characters. Lively plays Lily who graduates from college moves to Boston and meets a neurosurgeon who has a no-dating rule but becomes Lily’s first love.

An ex returns to her life and threatens to ruin everything she and her husband have built. Ever since the announcement of Lively playing Lily and Justin Baldoni playing the menace, Ryle, fans have called out Hoover for the unrealistic age difference between the characters.
Lively is 35 years older than ten years older than the 23-year-old character she plays. Baldoni is nine years older than the 30-year-old book character he plays.
Colleen Hoover agrees with fans

“Back when I was writing It Ends With Us, the new adult [genre] was very popular,” she shared at the festival, “You were writing college-aged characters. That’s what I was hired to do. She admitted, “I didn’t know neurosurgeons went to school for 50 years. There isn’t a neurosurgeon in his twenties.
She uses the film to right her wrongs. “When I started doing this movie, I was like, ‘We have to age them because I messed up,'” she admits. “So it’s my fault.” And while Lively’s age is off, Hoover says she’s “extremely happy” with the cast.
Hoover also admits that she’s a fan of Lively and has been “obsessed” with her since she was Serena van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl.
Colleen Hoover tames herself

The author didn’t allow himself to get too excited about Lively being outside the cast, it’s still a pinch moment for me. “It’s not over filming, everything could go wrong.”
Hoover also had to defend the clothing choices that fans spotted while the stars were filming the movie. She “likes” costumes, she admits. And insists fans are jumping to conclusions. “You’ve seen a few outfits completely out of context. I do not care.
She also insists that outfits weren’t a big part of her book and fans shouldn’t be so upset.
“I don’t remember describing outfits at all. I don’t care what they wear. In my head, it’s about the conversation they have and the story.
Colleen Hoover is happy

So far, the author is impressed with what she has seen. “I’ve been able to see the footage they’ve filmed so far. I’m not a screamer. I know I write emotional books but I’m not an emotional person. And I’ve cried so much over the tray.
Hoover continued, “You are going to be so happy. I am extremely happy and now my expectations are high and I will keep them there.
Hopefully fans will be happy with the final product! It’s always difficult to adapt a book into a film, especially one that is so successful.
